Saint Patrick's Day in Irish Pub in the US

From Seattle I traveled to Portland where I met my friends and we spent some time together. They wanted to show me what Americans do in their free time and how joyful people they are. I was lucky because on the 17th of March there is Saint Patrick's Day and it is widely celebrated in the US.

Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated annually on 17 March, the death date of the most commonly-recognized patron of Ireland, Saint Patrick, who lived between years 385 and 461. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. As in the US there are a lot of Irish descendants and American society is very multicultural, this day is a good occasion to go out and have some fun. Celebrations usually involve parades and festivals, and - of course - wearing of green attire. 

To feel the atmosphere of Saint Patrick's Day we went to Irish Pub.

 

Ze Seattle podążyłam do Portland, gdzie spotkałam się z przyjaciółmi i spędziliśmy razem trochę czasu. Chcieli mi pokazać, co Amerykanie zwykle robią w wolnym czasie i jakimi są radosnymi ludźmi. Miałam szczęście, bo 17 marca przypada dzień św. Patryka i jest to popularne święto w USA.

Dzień św. Patryka to religijne i kulturalne święto obchodzone 17 marca, w rocznicę śmierci patrona Irlandii, św. Patryka właśnie, który żył w latach 385-461. Jest to wspomnienie patrona i przyjęcia Chrześcijaństwa w Irlandii oraz świętowanie ogólnie rozumianego dziedzictwa kulturowego Irlandii. Jako że w Stanach jest dużo potomków Irlandczyków i amerykańskie społeczeństwo jest wielokulturowe - jest to bardzo dobra okazja do wyjścia z domu i niezłej zabawy. Podczas obchodów tego święta zwykle organizowane są parady i festyny, obowiązkowym elementem jest noszenie zielonych ubrań.
