One day in Nuremberg

This wasn't the first time I visited Nuremberg; I remember I was there before in 1992.

Last time it was in hot July, this time in cold February.

The city's history goes back to the 11th century, but it has a lot to offer to the tourists nowadays and I regret very much I didn't have enough time to visit it.

As I wrote many times before - the best for me to 'feel' the city is to walk the streets and observe people, make pictures and explore nice places.

Here we go:

To nie był pierwszy raz kiedy odwiedziłam Norymbergę; pamiętam, że byłam tam wcześniej w 1992 roku.

Wtedy był gorący lipiec, tym razem w zimny luty.

Historia miasta sięga aż XI wieku, ale ma ono wiele do zaoferowania turystom i dziś, i żałuję bardzo, że nie miałam wystarczająco dużo czasu, aby je dobrze zwiedzić.

Jak pisałam już wcześniej - dla mnie najlepszym sposobem, zeby "poczuć" miasto jest chodzić po ulicach i obserwować ludzi, robić zdjęcia i odwiedzać ciekawe miejsca.

Before I came here this time I didn't know Nuremberg contributed much to the science of astronomy. Did you know Albrecht Dürer lived here? He created woodcuts of the first maps of the stars of the northern and southern hemispheres and produced the first printed star charts and also published the first perspective drawing of the terrestrial globe. Did you know the main part of Nicolaus Copernicus's work was published in Nuremberg too?

Zanim tu przyjechałam tym razem nie wiedziałam, że Norymberga ma znaczne zasługi dla astronimii. Wiecie, że Albrecht Dürer tu żył i pracował? To on stworzył drzeworyty pierwszych map nieba północnej i południowej półkuli, wyprodukował pierwsze gwiezdne wykresy i opublikował też pierwszy rysunek perspektywiczny kuli ziemskiej! A wiedzieliście, że główna część pracy Mikołaja Kopernika też została opublikowana w Norymberdze? Ja właśnie uzuoełniłam sobie braki tej wiedzy będąc tutaj.

I enjoyed a lot a walk through the city although it was pretty cold. Luckily the weather was fine and I could make some pictures to share with you now.

Miałam wiele przyjemności z chodzenia po ulicach Norymbergi, mimo że było dość zimno. Pogoda była piękna i mogłam porobić zdjęcia, którymi sie teraz z Wami dzielę.

This time the visit is a little bit different because it's warmer.

The city is full of people walking, talking, sitting in cafes, drinking coffee and eating ice cream.

Tym razem wizyta trochę inna bo jest cieplej.
Miasto jest pełne ludzi spacerujących, rozmawiających ze sobą, siedzących w kawiarniach, popijających kawę i jedzących lody.

Charming place to visit and the icon of the city: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

This is the place where boutiques of the most well known fashion brands in the world are located:

Prada, Louis Vuitton, Versace  or Gucci - just to name a few.

Look at the atmosphere and try to imagine how nice it is! 

Although it's really crowded, people walk, talk and still have time to sit in one of the cafe's or restaurants here and enjoy coffee alone or in a good company.

And... watch people passing by :)

Other people, including me, believe that if they turn three times in one specific place of the Gallery, it will let them come here again:

Inni - nie wyłączając mnie - wierzą, że jeśli w jednym z miejsc obrócą się trzykrotnie, pozwoli im to wrócić tu ponownie:

  

And look at the floor: isn't it beautiful?

But it's not only shopping what makes people come to this city: it's also its sheer beauty.

Nie tylko zakupy przyciągają ludzi do tego miasta:samo  jego piękno jest częstym powodem.

And now - let's change perspective.
When I heard of this restaurant - located next to Duomo Cathedral - my first thought was: this must be a great place.
This thought was immediately followed by the second one: it must be crowded and without character because it is created for tourists only.
How delighted and positively surprised I was when I finally got there!
From this perspective Duomo looks like no other building in the whole world...

And by the way, the food is also delicious!
